24/04/2023: International Conference on Ancient Greek and Chinese Philosophy (Thessaloniki, Central Municipal Library of Thessaloniki)
In the framework of A.U.TH. Actions for the promotion of the study of ancient Greek and ancient Chinese philosophy, a one-day International Conference will be held on Monday 24th April 2023 at 18:30 at the Central Municipal Library (Thessaloniki, 27, Ethnikis Amynis str.) including presentations:
- by Yuri Pines, Professor of Chinese Studies at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, entitled “China's fa thinkers (“Legalists”): the ideology of rule by impartial standards”,
- by Stelios Virvidakis, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy N.K.U.A. and President of K.EL.KI.P (Centre of Ancient Greek and Chinese Cultures), entitled “Queries regarding rules and standards: Cross cultural considerations of impartiality (Comments on Yuri Pines’ paper)”, and
- by Chloe Balla, Associate Professor of Ancient Philosophy at the University of Crete, entitled “Law and nature, from the sophistic tradition to Plato” (in Greek).
The scientific responsibility lies with Pantelis Golitsis, Associate Professor of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Material from the Conference shall be posted on the website of the project A.U.TH. actions on ancient Greek and Chinese philosophy, in the section Lectures-publications on general or specific topics related to ancient Greek philosophy and ancient Chinese thought.
The Conference is held within the framework of the NSRF-funded project “A.U.TH. actions on Ancient Greek and Chinese Philosophy” of the Action “Promoting the study of ancient Greek and Chinese culture” of the Operational Program “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning” and is under the auspices of the “Philosophy Laboratory: Texts and Interpretations” of the Department of Philosophy and Pedagogy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
