Online workshops
on ancient Greek philosophy and the reception of ancient Chinese philosophy in the West
March-November 2023
Participants are invited to philosophy workshops in order to take part in a fruitful dialogue on how the philosophical “canon” is shaped in modern and contemporary Europe, as this “canon” recognized the significance of the great philosophers of Greek antiquity but gradually excluded the Chinese thought from the history of philosophy.
Lectures fall into two subject areas:
α) What is Greek philosophy and how is its scope determined?
b) How is the western reception of ancient Chinese philosophy shaped from the 17th to the 20th century?
